Performance blue is a blurple really. It's mostly blue and has a hint of purple from what I've seen of the color in person. It's not an overpowering purple to me that I'd mistake it for actually being purple. I guess if you get it in the right light it could.

It depends on the lighting. In my garage with CFL bulbs, the car is purple. In the bright sun, it is blue. On cloudy days or dusk, it tends to be a mix of both.

I don't get why manufacturers waste good colors on base cars. If it's available on the base car, it should be available on the high-end/sport version. Mazda does this with "spirited green metallic". Great color, and they waste it on the Mazda2. They DO use it on the Miata in Japan (as a one year special edition). I would stop at nothing to have a spirited green Miata, or even a Mazdaspeed3. But no, they use it only on that one model and that's it. At least MINI has the customization part down pat, even if they lack reliability and inexpensiveness.

I think Mazda is probably the worst with their colors though. On the Miata, you get 10 shades of gray, red, and a dark blue that looks black. Every 10 years or so they'll get a wild hair and throw in yellow, and then take it away again. Can you tell I have a love/hate relationship with Mazda ;)

The Mazda 2 got the green dropped for the 2014 model year. Now it's two shades of red, black, white, silver, and blue. The green was definitely my favorite color on the 2. For awhile I almost considered getting the Mazda 2 in green over the Fiesta in lime squeeze back when lime squeeze was about the best Fiesta color... The spirited green on a Fiesta would be really nice though. The green envy is nice for sure, but I just like the darker hue of the spirited green.

As for the Candy Blue not being on the ST, it is too bad. It really is a nice color as well. My mom has a candy blue Focus and it's definitely a color that stands out. I'm glad they at least still have the ST in molten orange.

MO is what I'm picking up Saturday morning.

Spirited Green reminds me of Synergy Green on the Camaro, or Green With Envy on the Challenger. Incredible colors.

I just sold my Gotta Have It Green Mustang, which is the same paint code as Green Envy. I'd get that color again, but there are VERY few within 500 miles of me, and the ones that are for sale are expensive, or have zero options. There's only a couple on autotrader/cars on the entire eastern seaboard that are green with Recaros. At least the MO looks better in sunlight than Green Envy. GE looks incredible in the shade, imo.

I really want a flame blue / blue candy option on the ST. Blue is my favorite color on a car, purple-blue, not so much. I ordered a race red ST, and maybe I'll repaint in one day.
