Nice ! Congrats ;) What color did you end up going with? And roughly when are you expecting delivery?

Thanks! It's tangerine scream (wish they offered molten orange). I factory ordered a 2014, they were all out of 13s, so maybe two months?

It's a nice car, despite my complaints about the interior. Drives beautifully.

What changed your mind?

I really would've preferred the smaller Fiesta, for familiarity sake size wise.

On the other hand, the Focus is more logical for me right now as I will be moving across Canada in the car (need the boot space) and will be doing lots of road trips.

On a side note. I've joined a focus ST forum and I must say, the crowd won't be drawing me back. Seems like there are more boy racers driving that car while the fiesta attracts more enthusiasts.

Haha the people I have talked to around town either are the boy racers that say I made the wrong choice, because hp hp HP!!! But my friends that race, all say I made the better choice.

Also, I must say, a lot of the evo owners are complete pricks. I got on the evo forums and they all started criticizing me because I left it stock, was autoxing it, and aren't planning on modding it at all. I got HARASSED so much because of this. Some cars attract some people, and I am SO happy Mose fiesta owners are down to earth.

-End rant-

If you're talking about focusst.org, I agree. Those guys are...not my folks.
^ haha yeah...

Most fiesta owners are down to earth.
I think that's the thing, it's not trying as hard. But, alas, I 'm buying the focus for its cargo space, not for bhp [/shifty eye]

SURE, SURE.

Right on, road needs all the color it can get out there. I like some of the other colors as well, but lately the bright or at least the non traditional colors are grabbing my eye :p

2 months isn't bad.. Heck, probably sooner than my FiST still.. lol

I don't expect that you'll be disappointed either, having driven the Focus ST.... It was a really fun car. The Tangerine is a nice color too. I've seen that, black, and white & red in person. The Tangerine seemed to be the nicer paint for sure. That said, they still seem pretty unique locally? I have only seen a small handful of the FoST's on the road. I think 4 total... excluding dealership lots.

I can't believe the difference between the Focus and the Focus ST... The transmission/steering/power delivery in the Focus feels horrible compared to the ST. Completely different cars altogether. Wish they gave me a FoST for a loaner vehicle instead of the regular sedan Focus. lol

I guess it'll be a little different for you, given your mini experience, but for me even this Focus feels tiny & go kart like.. But I'm coming from significantly larger vehicles.

Anyway, congrats again & post up some photo's when you get it ;) Did you end up having a decent dealership experience?

I went to Coastal Ford Vancouver. It was pretty good. I'm happy with employee pricing and the 0% apr. As long as they don't attach dealer fees, I'm happy. But hopefully I get it in two months, because I'm leaving town in two and a half months.

They just called today to let me know there's a red one that suddenly appeared on the lot (I was there yesterday, they didn't know what's going to be on the lot the day after?). I'm gonna go test drive it tonight. I'll try and take some size comparison pictures with the mini. I won't take it though, I don't want another red car.
Went to test drive a red focus ST after work today. Where to begin...

The car is pretty good, but the feeling of driving a mechanical thing is very much removed. I can't feel how the engine is reacting to the gearbox to the wheels to the road through my hands and my butt. I can't feel how fast I was going by feeling the vibrations of the shift knob. The brakes felt like I was playing gran turismo on play station, really hard to feel how much braking you are actually pumping down to the calipers. The thick pillars, oh god, it was like shooting one eye out and putting wasabi in the other, more blind spots than see spots. I am used to driving a car with zero blind spots without turning your head.

But man... it is such an awesome car. when I was 10, I discovered the internet (and myself). this is a discovery as great; total revelation of my view towards modern cars. they aren't boring anymore! It is just as much fun as the mini but without it constantly shouting everything it is doing at me. cup holders! gloveboxes! a frikin computer you poke at! it was like having a robot butler drive you around while it hugs you gently with the skin of a beautiful dead cow. It was telling me my passenger door was "ajar", the car speaks more eloquently than I do.... I just need to figure out how to program it to refer to me as Master Marco.

No pictures though... my mini was embarrassingly dirty

P.S. Oh I almost forgot, it was pretty fast too, but ya know, I'm about the cargo capacity.

I totally agree re: the feeling of driving a mechanical thing. It ain't no first gen Miata.

I also agree. I have a miata evo and Festiva that I think all have a better feeling. But when your pushing the fiesta at least, it does feel like the steering gets heavier to simulate more feel. I do think its worlds better then a lot of modern FWDs. Especially the Colbalt SS turbo. Fast car, felt like I was driving it with a paper plate.

Drove a Focus ST. I own a '90 Miata and '12 Focus SEL. The FiST to me feels much lighter and "nifty" than the FoST and I couldn't believe how much lighter it feels than my Focus SEL. It is definitely "insulating" compared to the Miata, but that's not a fair comparison :) I drove 4.5 hours to get my FiST. It does everything in one package: practical, fun, powerful, good gas mileage, looks great. I hope I can recapture some of the autocross magic I had with my '98 Neon ACR :) At least initially it gives me that same feel. We will see once spring gets here!

My wife and I own a 2013 Focus ST. It's a beast, no doubt, with a few mods.
I own a tangerine scream ST2. Love the car but its too big for city driving/parking. Probably going to trade it for a fiesta ST soon. Still on the fence about it.
Too big !! :troll: I Was daily driving a Raptor in the city & all around downtown.... and I think Vancouver was recently upgraded from #2 to #1 worst city to drive in within North America... And I parked that thing in the "small car" spots... lol And that wasn't too big... Just too thirsty. It boggles my mind how people think a small car is big. But I guess it's all subjective & depends on what you are accustomed to driving I suppose.

Don't let me talk you out of a FiST though. I really enjoyed the FoST (Didn't own one, have just driven a few times.) Had a Focus for a few months to daily... But the FiST was too much of a good thing to resist.

Probably the most satisfying car purchase I've made thus far.
Haha, I totally get the same thing with my FiST. It was super surreal the other night to be blasting up a canyon road with seat heaters on.
