Being an old school kind of guy, I prefer to use the manual mode to control the air temperature. Plus, I like to control which vents the air blows through - something that I cannot select in Auto mode.

I have noticed that there is virtually no difference in the cabin air temperature when the control dial setting is anywhere between 18.5C and "HI"- it is just blows the same Hot air. This is with outdoor temperature hovering around -5C, so there is plenty of outside cold air to mix with air going through the heater core.

If I set the control dial half a degree cooler at 18C, it changes to Cold - there is not gradient!

Anyone else experienced this or am I using it the wrong way?

I have not had that problem at all, here in Northern Farenheit Land; works well in manual. Variable as desired. I'd go to the dealer for a checkup.

I had to convert that 18.5 C. to 65 F.
I've never had my temperature set that low, even in the heat of summer. But I've also never had any problem setting the temperature to anything else I wanted. It sounds like you need to visit a dealer.
