Will the accessport v3 be compatible with future mountune calibrations or will there be some sort of software lock to limit the mountune calibrations to the mountune version of accessport?

From what was explained to me, the hardware is the same, but the firmware, tunes, etc. in the mTune are vendor-exclusive for mountune; the mTune cannot load tunes other than theirs, and mountune will not be offering their tunes for the Accessport. So, you will have to pick one or buy both.

It sucks for us, the consumers, but I'm sure they have a reason for doing this.

As in wanting you to pay another $6-700 for the exact same product so they can get their cut of the profits. Honestly the mountune maps only work if you have the proper parts anyways so I don't see why they would need to lock it. They're still getting their cut of the profits from the parts sales.
