This tuesday ill be taking my st to have Cobb tuning socal install a different variation of their stage 3 kit. So like most of you have noticed, Cobb is experiencing a production snag in regards to their intercooler and intake system. So with Cobb's own recommendation, they will be installing Mountune's intercooler and full intake kit as well as Cobb's catted downpipe. I already have the catback system from fswerks so I'll be passing on Cobb's catback. Ill report my findings for this combo as soon as everything is bolted in. The Cobb OTS stage 3 map will be utilized but I have a feeling that a custom map might be necessary just to be on the safe side. Stay tuned.

So I just got back from Cobb today with the "stage 3" install completed. All I have to say is that I love my car even more. The sound of the burbling exhaust note and slightly more audible intake and turbo spool just adds to the affect. WOT from about 2500 rpm is just awesome! It definitely feels faster in mid-upper rev range. Before I had Cobb do the install, I reverted back to the OEM map from stage 1 just to experience the difference between stock and stage 3. I honestly don't know why I would ever go back to anything less. In all, I think this is as much power I would like in this car. Big brake kit is on the check list now that I need the extra stopping power to make up for the additional speed.

wow i'm jealous. are you gonna get a custom tune?
I was told that with a custom tune, it could be possible to extract an additional 5-10 hp but since the car is running so well with the OTS map, I opted not to... for now. :) I'm waiting for Matt Farrah's ST custom tune. Once that is complete, it will reveal if any more power can be extracted. The cost for a custom tune is $450 or more so I think I'll just wait.

Did you get an after install dyno pull?

Unfortunately, it was near the end of the day so there wasn't time for a dyno pull. Yes, I'm current'y using Cobb's stage 3 OTS map. So far so good but I'm curious to see if this combination of parts makes less or more power than what Matt Farrah posted in his latest youtube video. I'll be sure to post dyno charts once I have the time to get the ST on the dyno.

Why do people think this? Cobb themselves installed and recommend to a customer to get a mountune intercooler to complete stage 3

Cobb and Mountune are great companies that work closely for product development. I'm not surprised that Cobb recommended the intake and intercooler from Mountune. I don't think you can go wrong with either one. If Cobb had all their products in stock, I would have personally gone with all Cobb but it is only because they have treated me right.

Bump...I bought the mountune AP with the Optimized Tune...150 USD...got if for free at the time of the sale...this allows the purchaser 45 days to have a custom tune written by Randy for the modifications you have done to your car..but only if you have replaced the DP, CBE, and FMIC...the added air flow with these mod's, without a retune, will make your car run lean and then you will have mucho problems...blow up likely...ax somebody
