Dealing with Spam posts

1129 Views 8 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  WRC Fan
As some of you have noticed, we have experienced an uptick in spam messages getting through our anti-spam filters.

This is more than likely due to the accounts/posts not being created by bots, but by actual people in other countries that are paid to do it. Who, with a little bit of research or knowledge can defeat our CAPTCHA system.

We will continue to work on ways to alleviate as much of the spam as we can. But, on the ones that do make it though, PLEASE:

Click the "Report" link at the bottom of the spam post. This alerts us and allows us to delete and ban the user with a simple click.

Thanks!

That's what I have been doing.;)
Thank you. I just wanted to make everyone aware of it.
We are seeing another spike in spam. Everyone has been very good about reporting them using the "Report" link at the bottom of the offending posts.

Please keep doing this and we will deal with it as quickly as possible. As mentioned, these posts are more than likely actually being made by low-paid people in other countries. That's how they are getting around our spambot filters.

We are looking into alternatives to help curb the issue.
Can you make it so new users with 0 posts can't post a new thread? All the spam I see isn't replies, it's new threads.
That's one tactic we may look into employing.
OK, folks. We've added some new anti-spam tools to the forum. Let's see how good they work. :)

This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
