Do you have chassis questions?

I'll be speaking with a Fiesta ST engineer next week. Do you have any specific chassis-related questions I might be able to ask?

I would like to know where the extra ~200 lbs of curb weight comes from vs. the regular Fiesta.
I would like to know when I will get my chassis:)

What are the differences in valving and spring rate between the b-spec coil over kit and a stock ST?

What did you want to do to improve handling that you couldn't because of NVH, durability or fit issues?
Can I stuff a set of 225/45/17 Dunlap DZII Star spec's under it ??

For europe vs. usa ST....

I weighed two identically equipped cars on the same scale, on the same day. Both full fuel...

FoE = 2622 lbf, 62.5% front
FNA = 2750 lbf, 60.1% front

so 128 lbf different. Weight mostly comes from rear doors, bumper structures and other body reinforcements for US crash and full size spare

Relative to base car....wheels/tires, brakes, body bits, turbo/ancillaries, heavier firewall liner (nvh), full size spare...all adds up
I think he meant vs a non ST 1.6 Fiesta.

That's what the "Relative to the base car" bit at the end is for....
Did they have any insight on the biggest tire that can be fitted ? Only curious cuz I have a set of 17's waiting in the wings but will go with 16 if need be
215/40 17 is at the limit, actually at the point where there could be issues. There is a minium clearence that is required around the tire when the suspension is at its full range of travel. I plan on running 215/40 17 on my ST since I have ran them on my 2011 with the FRPP suspension without issues. I am hoping to test fit them on ST in October. As for smaller wheels, the smallest that will fit is a 15".
Looks like the tires have to be under 24" in diameter? Checking out Tire Rack, the only stickies that may fit would be downsizing to 16" wheels and running Toyo Proxes R1R 225/45x16. They are 0.9" section width; 0.6" tread width and 0.2" dia larger than OEM 205/40/17.

And they have white OZ rally wheels on sale! Wouldn't that look hot on an ST?!

I would imagine BFG Rivals will have something by spring....
I would really like to hear more about their decision on the differential- did they test a real limited slip diff and if so what was the time difference around an autocross type course between a LSD and the solution they ended up with?
Yes what Matt Said !!! :mischievous:
When you talk to the engineers ask if the stock suspension is equal to the FRP autocross suspension (for autocrossing purposes...)
I would like to know the actual size of the ST's front Anti-Sway bar?
Is it the same or larger then the non-ST?

Dave
according to the 2014 Fiesta ST supplement, the front stabilizer bar on the Fiesta ST is 19 mm diameter.

Thanks,
That is the same size as the non-ST front bar.
I wonder if it is the same bar?

Dave
It could be the same as with FWD cars the rear wheels are the one you want to go up in size or add a sway bar to to get the car to rotate into the corner and not push .. Right ? So with the stiffer rear beam and different springs maybe the front was ok as it was .. Or I could be all wet here maybe BRGT350 can shed some light as he has both cars ..

Stiffening up the rear on a fwd car helps reduce understeer.
