I was checking my air box intake and saw what looked like an air connector on the left lower side of the box. What is it for and should it be plugged? I have a whistling sound around 2000 rpms and wonder if that may be it. See pictures.

I think that connector applies to the non-turbo Fiesta. My shop manual shows something connected to it on the Fiesta, but not on the ST.
My own ST has nothing connected there.

Thanks. So it is fine to have it open to the engine compartment? I was not sure if it was open to the air box or not but if so it would be sucking warm air into the airbox.

If it bothers you put a piece of tape over it.
