Fiesta ST Vs. Lancer Evolution

Hi,

I am considering these two cars heavily. Has anyone been an Evolution owner? I would be buying a new 2014 model. The ST looks to be a great car, but I am unsure if the HP will be an issue, as I am coming from an e36 m3. I have also never owned a FWD car before, so that is a tradeoff.

Thoughts? The Evolution will be discontinued soon, so this may be a now or never type of decision. Looking for input!

Also, has anyone seen a white fiesta with the molton recaro interior? It is buildable on ford's site, but I have yet to see one in my search.

The lancer was on my list of possible cars, but my parameters were unusual. I had a pick up as a daily driver and the mustang gt as my fun weekend car /weekend warrior. I found myself wanting to get rid of the truck because I don't use it for work and the only thing I was ever hauling was other peoples crap. I knew I wanted a practical smaller car with better mileage than the truck but it had to be enjoyable to drive. Didn't even have to be a performance car but it had to be a 6 speed and fun as well as practical. The fiesta popped up on my radar as filling all those gaps in a very interesting way

I test drove it and just fell in love with it. Molten orange wasn't my first color choice, and I didn't want a sunroof either but I fell in love with the car so fast and hard I couldn't pass it up (no other fiesta st's around me). It also didn't have the recaros which was important as I have a large back that didn't get along with the recaros

The funny thing is, the fiesta has a fun handling characteristic from the word go....whereas my mustang I had to swap nearly every suspension component to make it handle the way I wanted.

I'll also say I test drove the focus st, and though I certainly didn't experience a feeling of lack of speed (to the contrary, in a straight line it felt fast as hell to me), but it just wasn't as balanced and light on its feet as the fiesta was. The fiesta just melted my heart and felt so right......In a way I never experienced in any car I ever test drove.

As a bonus. The molten orange is really growing on me....makes me feel like a teenager. Lol

And any loss of structural rigidity from the sunroof will not be a concern when I have it open on a beautiful day
So long story short, as a hard core performance car I'd give the nod to the Evo.....but as an all a rounder that's fun as balls to drive? The fist walks away with it....period....especially a s a daily driver. Just my .02
