Fiesta ST vs the Focus ST

I owned an 07 Fit and really enjoyed it...in the city. Anytime it was on a hill or had to keep up on the highway, it felt vastly underpowered. The new Fit has 20 more HP so it seems like Honda is addressing that issue.

I drove a FoST when they first came out. I was driving a 2011 WRX at the time, and while the ride felt more refined, I wasn't too greatly impressed. Then again, I didn't get to flog it around. I was just doing a few laps around the auto circle and did a 5 second WOT run. The Fiesta ST had me 10 seconds into the test drive.
I just wanted to point out I had almost an exact experience to this. I had a 2010 WRX and drove the FOST and the FIST as soon as I could test drive. The focus was fast and fun but I just wasn't wooed if you will, I wound up keeping the subaru. A year later I found myself almost instantly buying the FIST after my test drive. Theres something about the smaller, and simpler car that just makes that 50hp loss feel like nothing. The FIST also had impressive gas mileage IMO, I average 28mpg and I drive almost all city. I've heard Focus owners getting nothing close to that (20-23) which was also a factor of why I got rid of my subaru. I know its a performance car and factors such as that shouldnt matter, but for a daily driver that also sold me pretty quick.

the May 2014 issue of Road & Track has a Ford Focus ST vs. Ford Fiesta ST comparison

That sounds like a great read, but I couldn't find it. Link? Is it only paid premium content (i.e., it will show up after it's been in physical circulation a while)?

Wouldn't be calling this an article. Pretty disappointing.

The only thing I liked better about it over the FiST was the shifter placement. It was a really interesting experience.
see and that's one of the things I hated most about the FoST, I banged my elbow everytime id shift to 2nd, 4th or 6th lol

Well, the shifter placement in relationship to the steering wheel. The arm rest on both FiST and FoST is not in an ideal spot.

I just picked up this R&T and agree that it is disappointing. I thought that maybe more might be in the "comparison". Overall, it was an entertaining issue. Did you catch that they merely like the FoST and love the FiST? :)
To be honest I would be happy with either, awesome to see Ford making and sharing with the US market, some fast hatches.
I agree, I'm a huge Ford fan so any good products wearing the logo are welcomed in by book. I also have a '93 Mustang GT, it's a long project/hobby.
@sickesss what do you think of the new Mustangs using the 2.3 liter ecoboost? My opinion is that I think they will be a ton of fun with a lot of potential for modification... and I hope they call it either an SVO or ST... your thoughts?

Well, in my opinion it could be a good move for Ford, only, and only if they continue to make the V8. In this day and age of all the environmental issues along with gas prices it could make sense to a lot of people because they would still get the looks and some performance in that package, plus, like you said, there would come a ton of mods for it. For me the only option would be a V8 Mustang, something about a Ford V8 with a loud exhaust is just addicting, when I first installed full exhaust on my Mustang I took the stereo out, to upgrade it, and ended up driving without one for more than a year, never missed it. But like I said, not everyone cares about that and some people would only want it for the looks, which I think it looks pretty bad ass. As far as a name, I hope they go with SVO. Again, as long as it's a Ford and it kicks Chevy's ass, I'm all in!!!!!
A friend of mine has a 13 Mustang with the Coyote 5.0 V8, simply an awesome powerplant. I also love the fact that you can get into a Shelby or a Rousch and essentially get Supercar levels of performance from a Mustang platform... They are also transitioning to a independent rear suspension for 2014 no? I certainly hope so in order to keep up with the new onslaught of cars from Chevy (1LE, ZL-1 and Z/28).
I enjoyed my 11 GT the motor was great the 6 spd china gear box was ok shifter not so much... The 2015 new Mustang should be a blast with the IRS and Ecoboost for the tuner crowd.. the 302 will again be one sweet mill and if they work the kinks out of the shifting there will be a lot of smiles all around ..

Cool, I have heard good things about the Coyote 5.0, and it sounds awesome. Yes, love the power of those 2, Ford just needs to improve their ability to put the power down. And yes, they get IRS with the new one, which should help a lot with traction. Hopefully they'll make a new Laguna Seca to smoke that new Camaro Z/28.

I still have a blast with my '93, I can't part ways with her, hopefully one day my grandkids will have as much fun driving her as I do. And yes, I'm sure the 2015 will be a blast for all crowds.
