I was just thinking, Ford ends the party very early with the 1.6 rev limiter. If you install a turbo that can supply enough air, you might be able to bump the power peak to over 7,000 rpm and that could get you to 250 whp if you can stretch out the torque curve from 6,350 to 7,000.

Oh, I will probably never run a drag race suspension on my ST, the above combo is just my guess at what a drag race setup would be.

I forgot, throw in an LSD or spool for drag racing, a clutch upgrade might be nice with a bunch of power and sticky tires.

I should be getting mine very soon. And the weather up here on track nights (Friday nights) have been -1000 recently. If that one guy can pull a 15.2 in FL with da probably nearing 3000 then I should have no problem pulling. 14.9 pass. I'll keep you updated.

Ps. I come from a fwd drag world so I should be able to get this thing moving. Might even toss a slick or radial on it.

I bet plenty of people will find this interesting. We'll see some fast FiSTs! :)

Your CRX power/time is impressive! Back in the day, my fastest run on DOT R compound tires was 12.34 at 114.7 MPH. That time was in a 200SX SE-R with full street trim (but still quite light, maybe 2600 lbs?). I had a NISMO LSD (still just a viscous type) and I did a lot of experimenting with AquaMist water injection. I believe my car made about 365HP to the wheels before that run (it eventually made about 400 WHP, but later with a different setup). So, this is a bit of a reference point for those looking to build an FWD drag racer.

FWD drag racing is fun, but very different than RWD or even AWD! That run ate my shot-peened and cryo treated 3rd gear! With a better LSD and real drag slicks, it probably would have seen 11s. The cool part was that it was still totally fine as a daily driver and "flew under the radar". Nothing suggested it was that fast, and it started my love for stealth rockets. I loved cooking fast F-bodies on the highway! But, if you want to go fast and play with slicks, you'll break stuff for sure! :)

Well it looks like 230 whp is enough to get the Fiesta solidly in the 13s.

I think the 1.6 has more potential than that. Hopefully I'll find out soon.

I talked to a guy at ATP today, they are only about 30 miles away from me.

Oops, they have about 265 whp. I misread the graph.

Any way, I like the peak numbers quite a bit but I don't like the loss of low end torque, I fear it might make it laggy but I need to ask about that.

It sounds like a Cobb stage two with a race downpipe and good exhaust should be near 220 whp without losing that torque or adding lag. I think I'll try that before I do a turbo upgrade.

In the comments on the video they're saying its not dialed in and not running full boost on the 13.6 run. Makes sense since I would think 260whp on this car would be good for a couple mph faster and close to 12's in the 1/4. Sounds like we may have a potential rocketship a turbo swap away :)

Yes, with a good consistent tune, sticky tires and a well adjusted Cobb launch control setting, I expect it will surprise many.

If you think about it, 220 whp is damn close to stock Focus ST power and in a package 500 lbs lighter.

With a turbo swap and weight reduction it will be close to Mustang 5.0 power to weight ratio.

Nice, I imagine that some traction and a Cobb stage 1 tune that removes the low gear torque limiting will help improve the 60' times and that means mid-low 14's with just a tune and tires.

I don't know if you need Accesstuner race to get launch control but that would help too.
