I just realized from this picture mine looks to be connected to the grill . When I go outside tomorrow I'll have to look at it. On my window sticker it did say front license plate bracket. Btw the new New York plates are ugly.

You may be falling victim to the same mistake I made. As someone else pointed out, the screws appearing on the top there, are probably attached from the plate to the bracket..
But underneath the bottom portion, the plate is possibly covering the two screws that attach the bracket to the bumper. (This is how my truck's bumper was done).

I made that error in posting up the wrong comparison photo's and unfortunately didn't have any photo's of that car I seen without the bracket drilled.

Definitely check and verify though ;)

I know the Focus ST forums have lots of photos posted of Focus ST's with rivets in the grille, or with a black plate behind the grille that is drilled to hold the plate instead of the bumper. But I don't really see Fiesta's arriving that way. They seem to be either arriving, with or without a front plate.

The first one I seen was done with black rivets in the honey comb grille.. but I never took photo's.. and am beginning to think that may have done by the dealership? As everyone's photo's thus far imply either a bracket drilled to the bumper, or no bracket at all.

Thanks for clarifying that your order sheet does show the front plate listed though ! Useful to know these things in trying to figure out the plate situation.

Mine is riveted on, and Arizona only gives you one plate, so I'm guessing my dealer doesn't know its possible to order without? Anyway, as a temp solution I went with an AZ flag plate, until someone comes up with a good looking solution to the holes left in the bumper.

The Focus ST plates are smack dab in the middle of the grille so that's the only place they would be riveted. It looks even worse than the Fiesta front plate... If you look closely you can see that entire middle part of the grille is solid (it's not a black plate behind the grille), that's because that's where the plate goes. So the plate doesn't actually block any airflow, it's that way with or without the plate. You can see in this picture the owner found a better front plate solution.

It's the same with the Fiesta, the bottom part of the big grille is solid so the plate isn't blocking any airflow. The unfortunate part for people that want to remove the Fiesta plate is that most of it is on the painted part so that's where it's drilled and riveted. If it was drilled at the grille it wouldn't be real noticeable if it was removed.

I would hate the dealer for that if a front plate was not required in the state I lived. There's no point in ruining the front end if a front plate isn't even given to you...

I'm looking at the window sticker I downloaded from Ford for the car I put a deposit on, and it lists under optional equipment 'Front License Plate Bracket' at no additional charge. Since the car is at a dealer in Arizona, I'm wondering if that means it's riveted to the car at the factory? Guess I'll email my sales rep and ask. Kinda dumb to deliver it that way since Arizona doesn't require front plates.

Yeah, I'd definitely figure that out. It seems some come on from the factory and some are installed at the dealer, but it doesn't make sense as to when it comes on and doesn't.

Yep, my dealer confirmed that my car has the factory installed front plate bracket. They offered to remove it if I liked, and I said yes, please. I still think it's crazy that they install these at the factory instead of at the dealer.

Don't think I chimed in here yet,
My car was custom ordered without front plate.
Car arrived @ dealer with front plate pre-installed.

Thumbs down @ ford for that one.

Hye Mayhem, u said u in BC right?
I ordered mine 3 months ago its suppose to come dec 20, the guy i talk to at the dealership is a freind of mine and he said they ordered it without the front plate, so youre saying there is a possiblity that it will come pre attached, because i will be really mad at them if that happens. Yes its mandatory in BC to have your front plate, but i just dont care, it makes the car look hideous..so i ll hold on as long as i can to have no front plate.. but yeah i dont know anyone in the city with a fiST and my car (richport ford) will be their first ST order

I "WAS" richports first order, but they screwed me around. So I went elsewhere. Lucky that you have a friend there. Hopefully that ensures you are treated better. My sales guy was good until his boss screwed me over on my innitial order, and then when I placed a new order, his boss screwed the deal up, and everything went south so I split.

Richports ST came front plated... Brown bros came front plated, Coastal came front plated... Key wests have all come front plated....
Doesn't look good or the no plate situation...

One of my prior vehicles, I ordered no front plate and it came in the trunk..

My ST unloaded off the delivery truck plated already.... Pissed me off too... Intend to write ford about it since it's in my order paperwork not to have one... But they hole punched anyways.. Can't fault the dealership, but I don't understand why other laces are getting no front plate installed while locally it seems to be done regardless.

I've not seen any local cars without a plate.

To be fair, I don't think it ruins the car at all, as far as looks go...and I strongly dislike front plates...... And if you custom plate+frame it.. even better. So I wouldn't worry about it too much... But I REALLY am dissatisfied that they went ahead and took a drill to my damn car AGAINST my request... All in paper... Not even the dealer.. But Ford. I would have put a front plate on.. but I had aftermarket solutions in place that did not involve putting holes in my bumper. So... thanks for that. I consider that vandalism!

My options were, take it as is, or leave it as is.... I wasn't about to go through the wait again and give up on having the first Green Envy around here..... Waited long enough already... And I certainly haven't smiled any less with the plate up front. But it's the "details" that make or brake good customer relations.. And that show a company actually cares about the "individuals" rather than just numbers.

Next time Ford brings me a plate, it better come with dinner... Usually my minimum requirement before I get screwed! I like to think I have a little class.

I finally got around to removing the front bracket on the Fiesta. It looks so much better! I also ordered some touch-up paint for the plastic plugs that are filling the holes. Before and after pics..... View attachment 390 View attachment 391 View attachment 392

I just used a 3/8 drill bit and drilled the front rivits out. It was tricky to do, if you aren't comfortable drilling it out yourself you can just take it to a body shop and they can drill it out. I also went to lowes and bought 3/8 inch plastic hole plugs to fill the holes in the bumper. I hope this helps
