Does anyone know if we will be able to upgrade from a MP215 kit to an eventual MR kit without having to get a new handset? I want to eventually go to something comparable to cobb stage 3 but would like to keep my warranty in the meantime, thus my interest in going with mountune until my warranty expires.

An interesting question. I've been under the impression that once the mountune 215 is uploaded, it can't be changed except by the dealer. It would be interesting to know if it can have the mountune CUSTOM tune installed over the top, or would it have to be reset at the dealer first. And would there be a discount i.e the ability to send back the Access Port to have it re-preogrammed.
Ya that's my impression too but I hope it's not the case because I would like to go all Mountune but if I have to re buy stuff it seems like its better to just go cobb. Hopefully we can get one of the Mountune guys in here to clear things up.

Mountune sells the COBB tuner with mountune tunes on it, so I'd imagine when any MR hard parts start showing up, that'd be the one to have. As for the MP 215, it's locked for warranty compliance and I doubt it can be altered for MR tunes.

They probably could, but it might mess with their warrantee agreement with Ford.

I assume if they unlock any mTunes, those cars would not be covered under the Ford Racing agreement. The FoST guys have both MR and MP packages might be worth spending some time on those forums and ask the same question.

Exactly. MR stuff isn't covered, because off-road use only.

Well this is what Mountune UK offers:

For 126 Euros ($156.69 USD) they will allow you to do an "In-field firmware update" ie. they send you a key to unlock the mTune and the MR tune. You can then use AP manager to update your mTune. Not sure if any of this will be applicable to North America though. There isn't a similar kit available from the Mountune USA store.

The only thing I saw on MountuneUSA.com for USDM FoST owners was the MR300 upgrade package-

I didn't see just the programming listed separately. I would assume that the USDM FiST owners would have a similar option once the parts/programming is released.

Nice! I must have missed that. I might be down for that kit at the end of the Ford Racing coverage (assuming they offer something similar for the FiST). Still waiting on the hardware though

The lucky owners that have the MP215 will be able to upgrade to the MR package once its released using their mTune handset. Its an easy update that can be done online. The MR packages are not included in the Ford Racing warranty provision not because they are unreliable or will likely cause damage. Its because the MR packages require a down pipe with sport cat and changing the cat is not part of Fords program. More details once we are closer to releasing. Thanks
