Not just a cost saving move, every Ford globally with a hydraulic clutch has used a shared reservoir and that goes back to the 80s. Nothing new here.In a cost saving move a few yrs ago they use the brake fluid res as a combo brake fluid and clutch fluid res. had the same thing on my 2011 Mustang GT
No reason to not use a shared reservoir that I can think of, on the Focus it's been a bit of a blessing because the clutch master cylinder has a tendency to leak and man people don't know it's leaking until the low brake fluid light comes on.
