The dealer put the order in as part of their inventory. I'm not exactly sure when they put the order in but I received the vin on 10/30/2014. I called Ford customer service for an update in mid November. They told me the car was in New Jersey and would be delivered any day. I called again in early December and they told me the car was in Mexico. The problem was then escalated and I received a Ford rep as a contact. Since then, the car was shipped from Mexico, stuck in customs for 4 weeks and now is hung up by weather delays. The car has been changed in their system as Sold (even though I still don't have the car) and I'm receiving really poorly timed "how do you like your new car" survey emails. This is a disaster. I keep requesting a detailed report of the order from start to finish but they continue to ignore my request.
I had a similar issue. I ordered my ST in August, got the serial number in November, and am just now picking it up this Friday... There were plenty of phone calls about "paperwork mix-ups." I genuinely believe it to be the fault of the dealership, not Ford directly.

I ordered my FiST on 01/30/15. Now I'm thinking the 6-8 week delivery estimate was very ambitious!
The actual build time on mine was not more than a few weeks. The longest wait was getting my dealer to process the paperwork to start the building, and getting the car shipped on a train (most of that time was waiting for a train). I had my car shipped from a US port to a German port, and that was actually quick, only two weeks. It's all about the paperwork. Good dealer = fast delivery. Bad dealer = slow delivery . Paperwork error on my dealer's side cause be to have to schedule the pickup date a few times (pick is a 5 hour train ride away, and a pain to reschedule) I was supposed to pick it up tomorrow, but it got pushed to Friday. It's going to be a long week.

I think I would have done hurt somebody by now. Congrats on your patience. I think going to another dealer, even 2 months after the fact would have netted you a special order Fiesta quicker then the one you have been dealing with.

I'm overseas military, I literally have one option, without buying a $1200 plane ticket, for buying a new American car. If I were in the US, I would have purchased my ST from a local dealer. Either way, I take the train to pick it up tomorrow at 4 AM!

I put in an order in for a RR with just the Recaro seats yesterday. Got a call today about a PB one with just about everything in it that was getting delivered nearby. Got the options I didn't originally want for half the cost, and $1500 in incentives as if they had it on the lot. Now that my wait is down to about a week, I'm not sure how well I would have handled the "4-6 weeks" that is being quoted.

The color will be there long after the cost is forgotten..... For some people $$$ are more important than getting exactly what they want... If you can live with blue GREAT..!
