Hi. Recently updated my iPhone 5S to iOS 8 and just noticed that I've lost the ability for the ST to receive texts and the option to have the car read them to me. Anyone having this issue or is it just me?

I just checked mine and it's still working properly. Same as you, I have an iPhone 5S and upgraded to iOS8, didn't restore my phone and upgrade after.

You may have to tap the i icon next to the connected Bluetooth on your phone and enable the text option again. Dunno why mine would still work and yours wouldn't though.

Weird. I hit the "i" in the Bluetooth section and "show notifications" toggle isn't there either.

Try forgetting sync from your phone and pairing again?

Yeah. Did it like 3 times now. When I'm back in the car, I'll delete and hard reset my phone and try again. Thanks!

Yup. Tried everything. My information screen for Sync is still missing the "show notifications" toggle.

Not the end of the world but I loved that feature! Frustrated!

I've seen this too every time there's an update to the iPhone. I have to delete pairing and reset everything up all over again for text messages to work.

I have the same issue. Has anyone found out how to deal with this? I'm using a different bluetooth connection, but am totally overwhelmed. I've re-paired the device many, many, times. I've "forgotten" the device. It seems to be an iOS8 problem...

No idea. Got a hold of my wife's phone which updated to iOS 8 and no problem. Same with iLiptiKal.

Yes. Best thing to do is wait at least a couple of weeks before upgrading operating systems. It allows apps to be updated and funtion smoothly.

When you say that you're using a different Bluetooth connection, do you mean that you're using something other than SYNC?

Yes. Best thing to do is wait at least a couple of weeks before upgrading operating systems. It allows apps to be updated and funtion smoothly.

Hi JohnnyCanuck,

Certain SYNC software versions will not allow that SHOW NOTIFICATIONS option to appear on the iPhone. Even though you've already tested this on your wife's phone, it's still a good idea to make sure your software is up to date. Just log in at: www.Support.Ford.com to check.

Once you've verified that you're running the latest and greatest, let me know which version you have downloaded and I'll let you know what I recommend.

Hi Kim.

The version I have is the most up to date one (version that came with the car when purchased). As stated earlier in the thread, I've never had problems receiving texts in the past with any of my iPhones.

I'm having some similar issues too. I got iOS 8 before i got my FiST and everything but the texting seems to work. The option to show notifications is there. When I checked it was off so I switched it on by my SYNC is still telling me that my phone doesn't support the texting feature. I'm going to mess around with it tomorrow to try and get it working. I'll post any news (hopefully good).

Same issue here, but a reboot on my phone fixed the issue and I can now receive text messages via sync with iOS8.
