I'm having a few quirky issues with the MyFord Touch NAV system, I'm pretty well able to reproduce these issues 9/10 times, and I was wondering if anyone else had similar issues with them, or would be able to test my theories on their FiST's (Would be much appreciated)

Issue:
Stereo powers on, but no audio output
Workaround:
Power cycle the stereo
Steps to reproduce:
Seems if I start my FiST and immediately start driving, before the audio normally starts playing, then it will never output audio until the stereo, or car, is power cycled. If I start my car, and wait, the audio will begin to play. (Tested using Serious XM only)

Issue:
Cannot play music from YouTube App, on iPhone 5 (iOS 7.1) for longer then 25 seconds via USB.
Workaround:
Use Bluetooth connectivity (tough I experience similar symptoms it the USB cable is charging while on BT)
Steps to reproduce:
Whenever I connect my iPhone via USB, select the audio source as USB Aux, then play music, it works fine, but as soon as I open YouTube.app, and play some music, it will play for about 25 seconds, then the audio cuts out. The song/movie continues to play on my iPhone, but there is no audio coming through the stereo. I've actually tested this with 3 iPhone's (iPhone 4, iPhone 5, and iPhone 5s) all have similar, if not the same experiences.

I've already done a factory reset, as per Ford's instructions, with no change in this behavior.

Anyone who can confirm or deny these issues would be greatly helpful. I'm heading to Ford tomorrow morning for my bi-annual maintenance, so I will mention it to them then.

So, I tried another master reset and again it made no difference. Seems weird, because in the instruction on how to do the master reset, here: http://support.ford.com/sync-technology/perform-master-reset-sync-myford-touch the screen is supposed to go black after the "Resetting to Factory defaults" screen and reload, where-as mine does not.

After the "Resetting to Factory Defaults" message, it simply goes away, and all of my programming has been deleted. The stereo is usable again, despite not seeing the black Sync screen. Not sure if this thing is actuality resetting or not.

I've also noticed that I can play YouTube videos via USB, so long as I use Google Chrome to play the videos, which still isn't perfect, but at least I can have my phone charging while I play some music.

Is there anyone out there who can test these issues for me? I'd like to know if my car is a one off, or if there is legitimately a problem with the MyFord Touch systems.

Thanks.

I don't use an iPhone so can't test your second issue but I'll see if I can duplicate the first issue next time I take the car out.

Usually the music has started playing before I drive away but I've never purposely tried to get the car moving before that.

I have experienced the "power on / lack of audio" issue you mention from day 1. It is intermittent, I would say ~50% of the time it happens and I do the same thing you suggested: power off/on quickly. I have not noticed it is related to driving the car but I will check it out tomorrow.

It's a minor issue for me so I have not gone through the reboot option.

Now, if I could get 8 preset buttons per screen instead of 6 - that would be something I would go through the hassle of upgrading/rebooting.

I tried to recreate it but couldn't. After I hit the start button it's only a couple seconds before the audio starts playing so I can't seem to get the car moving before that. Might be different with satellite radio but I park in an underground parkade so obviously that doesn't work.

In order for me to drive the car before the audio starts playing I'd need to be sitting there with my belt on, car in gear and park brake released then let the clutch out the second the motor stops cranking. Not a situation I'd normally encounter.

Thanks for trying, Satellite Radio does take a few seconds longer to start, that I've noticed.

I'm going to test it tomorrow morning with AM/FM radio, see if it's the same effect.

Thanks.
