I've had my FiST now for a little over 2 weeks. My impressions thus far:
1. Being 5'11", about 250 lbs, I do find I fit rather well in the car. I've only driven small cars for the last 25 years (Swift GT, Escort ZX2, Focus ZX3, Porsche 911), and rather enjoy being "intimate" with any automobile. The middle armrest seems comparable to my old Focus, so I don't even notice that. The door armrest is a little too far forward, however my hand naturally falls to the front window buttons which is nice (I drove a rental Chevy Equinox for a weeklong trip last month, and I kept pushing the rear window button when I wanted the front. Annoying). The moonroof seems to be of high-quality fit and finish. It is rather far back, but my seat is back pretty far too. It's been open pretty much 24x7 since I picked up the car. I am a sucker for any type of open-air motoring, hence the old 911 Targa. The rest of the interior is not BMW-grade, but it's also not ugly or cheap.
2. MFT/Sync, for all the complaints and kvetches I have read for the last year, works pretty darn well. I found that the Chevy MyLink was horribly slow when trying to skip songs on the iPod. I do wonder about debris getting into the upward-facing USB and SD slots. Mounting them vertically might be smarter (note to self: don't put the french fries in the center armrest). One thing we've found out is that it doesn't quite understand my wife's voice unless she lowers it down an octave or so.
3. MyKey, even though I have not created one, says that I can't listen to Howard 100 when I turn the engine off. Plays fine while driving, but turn it off and Howard goes away. No idea why. I have verified that both keys are Administrator keys, and used both seperately. Gonna have to search on that one...
4. I have not put as many miles on as the rest of you probably have. I'm still working on the first tank of 87 octane, about 300 miles on the odo. Please forgive me, but I bicycle to work most days, so my car tends to sit in the garage a lot waiting for the weekend. I soooo need to take this up Yarnell hill and north to Prescott the back way very soon, but it's not going to be for awhile I'm afraid.
5. Recaros. Awesome. Seats. Even better than the sport seats in my 911. Don't know how they'll be on a long trip, but around town they are fantastic. Worth the money, even though I'll likely never use the bun warmers here in Phoenix.
