To quickly recap the issues:
-The steering wheel and brake pedal shared an odd rubbing/grinding noise and feel at 5k miles. They had the car for a week, replaced the entire steering column and knee airbag. The sound remained, and they then declared it normal.
-The shifting sounds clunky (well documented here). They had the car for a week, and then declared it normal. (I can almost understand this)
-The instrument cluster makes a buzzing sound as the needles move, and they jump around a tiny bit. They declared this normal.
-The CD player sounds like it's searching for tracks, even when there's no CD in there. That's normal, too.
-The brakes are loud every single day for the first ten or so stops. That's normal. (I can almost understand this)
...and more. Almost every problem they tried to fix, and then when they couldn't declared it be normal. Often I'd clearly say things like "The wheel/brake noise only happens when parked", and I'd get back the report from them stating "Drove car 20 miles with Field Service Engineer, couldn't duplicate problem". Or that same wheel/brake noise which I had two service people listen to and experience firsthand which was CLEARLY in the cabin, under the dash: the service manager for the entire dealership calls me and says "That's probably just brake pads shifting (outside the car), which is normal". I've driven 800-1000 cars (no joke) and know a lot of mechanically inclined car people. Not one has experienced a noisy instrument cluster or have even heard of a replaced defective steering column. AT 5K MILES.
So no more Fords for me. Ever. Nor will I deal with the dealership (which also sells Toyotas, which I love), which had mostly horrible service and STILL haven't returned my service emails and calls regarding my now non-existent car. Which is too bad - If the dealer, or Ford Motor Company, or the car itself had been satisfactory I might have been able to stick through it. But when they all sucked out in an unbelievable way, I'm out.
