Lighting upgrades

I decided to do a bunch of lighting upgrades both inside and outside the car with Sylvania Silverstar products. The first step was the dome and map lights. As you can see from this pic, they are WAY brighter.

This link has a good discussion on the H11 vs. H11b question: http://www.forteforums.com/forums/do-yourself-articles/12619-h11-vs-h11b-yes-again-hear-me-out.html

The low beam and fog bulbs I pulled out of my car were H11 based on that description. I had a good drive way out in the country on Saturday night and yes the ZXE high beams rock! :)
Got to drive last night for the first time after installing the H11 ZXE's low beam and fogs a great improvement over stock bulb. Now to replace the H1 high beams with ZXE's. Ay just more and more money

The car is all back together now :) If the weather gets better soon then I will try to photo document the dome light disassembly.

I've noticed since I bought my car there has been some vibration with the left headlight beam. Today while installing the H1 ZXE's high beams I discovered the adjustment assembly inside the light housing was broken. There's something that got past quality! Lucky though I was able to get some high strength adhesive and bond the thing together without interfering with the adjuster. Now that all the bulbs are in the ZXE's are well worth the money ! :)
Sucks about the adjuster. Warranty claim! My car had the air bag light come on several times under hard acceleration. Turns out the left front airbag sensor plug was loose. Dealer fixed.

So do you agree that the high beams are an even bigger improvement than the low beams?
Yup just go to Amazon.com and search for Silverstar ZXE. They are Sylvania.

Yes
I've found they don't last long. I had them in my last ford.. What about a good hid kit on Amazon?
I need some more detail on how to get the dome light of my car so I can replace them with LED's

I read all the stuff about short lifespan. Figured I would try one set and find out for myself.

for the price here in Canada I was hoping to get longer than 9-10 mths
I need to double check, but I think I installed H9 Hella low beams and HIR1 Phillips Infra Red high beams in my 2011. I had to modify the tabs in the housing and the bulbs to get them to fit, but the performance out of the stock housings is amazing. I have played around with different bulbs (Silverstar, ect) but had not tried a different size until last year. It took an hour or so of work with some side cutters and a Dremel to get them to fit. I had to make a jumper harness to go from the bulbs to the factory wires. I plan on doing the same modification to the ST, along with some Hella 500s in the grille for winter.

I do a lot of modding of my cars, but it's almost exclusively bolt-on mods. I would have to draw the line at taking a Dremel to my headlight housing :) If I can get a year out of these bulbs I will be satisfied. If not, I will look at some HID kits.

It was some simple clearence issues and would not effect putting the stock bulbs back in. The issue may not be there on the new 2014+ headlights.
That I could do :) I will have to look up the light output of those bulbs you mentioned.
