The Memorial Day SCCA Solo National Tour in Lincoln now has 3 Focus STs, my buddy in his Genesis Coupe and me in the FiST.

I'd be there if I could, but I'm gonna be out of town through that Sunday. <sigh> Have fun! As an aside, Smokin, have you seen the ad for the SCCA on page 64 of the most recent issue of Grassroots Motorsports? I think you'll recognize him easily. Number 82 in your program, and near you on the region PAX chart, I believe.

Aah. He does look a little--ahem--different in the pic. Thought it might be kinda old. Doesn't appearing in an SCCA ad result in addition of a small amount to one's PAX number? ;)

I can't make it to Spring, I will be there in the fall though.
Don't waste your time and money. The Focus STs had way too much acceleration on the Lincoln Nationals course this weekend.
On short tight courses we can maybe compete but my buddies said there was too much power compared to my Fiesta.

And to prove it's not just talent, the last two runs on Sunday were in a downpour and I was only 0.914 and 0.333 back in the wet. In the dry couldn't muster 2 seconds....

I think we have to petition the SEB to move the Focus ST to D-Street. The top 3 in GS would have finished 3rd, 4th and 6th in DS. They'd finished 10th and 11th in STX.

Which brings about the frustration that I have with the FiST being put into STX. I was watching your runs/times as the event was going on and I was surprised the FoST was that far ahead. I still plan on going in the fall but I have no problem recommending the FoST for DS. Maybe give some of the Minis some competition.

Granted I'm new to the game, but I was surprised to see the apparent imbalance in numbers of vehicles in the two classes mentioned, DS and GS. Just for quick reference, the list of DS vehicles in the 2014 rules is one column in length; that of the GS vehicles is 4.5 columns in length. DS is Minis and some other stuff thrown in, notably Mazdaspeed 3s and 6s. GS has many vehicles, and what seems a fairly broad range: everything from non-quattro Audi TTs to the V6 Firebird and on to the Toyota Celica GTS and a slew of so-so Nissans. Oh, and the FiST and FoST, of course. The means by which they classify cars is mysterious, it seems.

I took my first ride in a Focus ST on autocross course this weekend and it felt fast with a lot of grip. Any time the course got tight it got ponderous though. It's funny that the run felt faster but was 0.9 behind my FiST time which was hindered by my ill-advised decision to install a rear sway bar. Crows Landing in two weeks should give me a better idea where we sit.

The first one...that is a fiesta with the number 23?

yep. That's me. Funny how it was blank on my work computer...
Too bad it's not my good side. I'd like to see how the outside front is working rather than the inside rear...

Who wants to stand outside front of the outside front to take the pic? Any volunteers?
