Mountune in Canada

Just wanted to share this news with the fellow Canadians here.

I posted the question on the Mountune Facebook page asking if there were any plans on getting the MP215 upgrade to Canada and still keeping warranty.

I got a reply today saying to keep looking at their page next week for "updates I should find to my liking"

That's all the info I have but it sounds promising!

Oooooo.....that would make an awesome Christmas present. More power is always welcome, especially if the warranty stays intact.

I think that might be somewhat important, especially if something in the engine went "kaput" lol
Im definitely looking forward to this, i have been searching around to gather some info but no luck, my fiesta comes in 3 weeks it would be nice to get the tune up
Any word on Mountune dealer in Canada? I can't seem to find anything. Would love to go with MP215!! If not... I think it's COBB. They have support in my area.

I have been talking to Ken @ Mountune and yes the MP215 kit will be available in Canada with warranty as long as its installed by a Ford dealer. You can buy any Mountune parts at any Ford dealer or Ford Racing dealer or directly from Mountuneusa.com. The kit will come with the mTune handheld programmer/display unit along with the new lower airbox portion with high flow air filter for $1229 usd. At this point there is no set price that Canadian Ford dealers will charge for this complete kit. With the dollar exchange I would expect at least $1300 cdn. Ken also told me that they set the MSRP of the kit at $1229 usd so it's up to dealers to charge what ever they want. Hopefully most will sell it at the $1229 usd + cdn exchange rate.
Thanks for the update. I must say tho... a little disappointed at the price :(. Was expecting more like $900 Cdn. COBB $520 USD plus exchange in Canada. Really want the MP215, especially if it includes warranty. Kinda feeling ripped off... as per usual in Canada. So here in Canada m tune $1400 plus install.... $130per/hr shop rate = $1530 plus what ever Ford dealer marks up. Not sure it will be worth it. Is the mountune tune that much better than the COBB tune?
The Cobb tune has a larger improvement in torque than hp, I from watching the smoking tire fiesta st Cobb stage 1 review it gained about 3hp and about 20ft-lbs of torque. Although the HP gains are throughout the rpm range. Not too sure how dealers will charge, don't think US Ford dealers will actually pay $1229, Mountune will charge a lesser amount and recommend that dealers in the US charge the msrp $1229 USD. So I think for Canada will be the same, although could see extra shipping costs being built into the CDN msrp. I think I'm going to buy directly from Mountune, $1229 USD + $42 for shipping. Ken has said the MP215 will have the Ford warranty. The Mountune seems to be better in terms of numbers, in Europe the MP215 claims are 215hp and 236ft-lbs of torque. From what I've read the Mountune numbers seem more impressive than Cobb but at more than double price and no factory warranty on Cobb tune.

mountune does claim better hp numbers. COBB is claiming better torque numbers. It's funny, doesn't COBB make the m tune hardware (Accessport)? o_O. Decisions, decisions... warranted hp/torque is important to me but so is cost. Thanks marc89gti! When you get your mountune mods done post your thoughts. I'm very interested to here.

Yes Mtune uses the Cobb AP but thats about all that will be the same as they Mtune will use a different Firmware to allow only Mtune maps to be used where as Cobb is like a open source. So if you get their tuning software maybe you would be able to swap maps with other tuner geek types .. ;)
Mountune's prices line up with the European prices when you factor in exchange rates. 599 euros for the basic MP215 without the mTune handheld or about $900 cdn. Unfortunately in NA the Ford dealers require the mTune to down Mountune's tune whereas in Europe the dealers don't require the mTune. The compete mTune kit in Europe is 799 euros or about 1200 cdn. So basically the mTune handheld is pushing the cost up by $300 or so. Definitely a premium to get warranty coverage.
