I just got word yesterday that my dealership got the build sheet so I guess that means my new car is finally on it's way to me. I suppose that means I can stop lurking and introduce myself.

I have been looking at FiST since before it came to The States. In fact, it was they day Suzuki declared bankruptcy in the US. I owned a 2009 Suzuki SX4 awd manual hatchback at the time and wanted to trade in the car immediately before resale/trade value tanked. The only car I really wanted to replace it with was not available yet though so I put it out of my mind. I had put quite a bit into the sx4 and still loved it. Although it could have been faster despite having every bolt on (except a turbo) made for the car, it handled well on the stiffer springs and rear swaybar I had installed along with OEM 17s I had bought from a Suzuki Kizashi. That and being a few payments away from paying it off helped dreams of ST ownership fade into memory.

Enter divine intervention. We got hit with baseball size hail the day after I paid the SX4 off...

That was in June. I couldn't get my car in to a shop until October because of the widespread damage from the storm but the insurance adjustor's estimate was $4k, not totaled. October came and the body shop took my roof rack off and found a lot of damage on the roof that hadn't been recorded before. The damage then came in over $6k, total loss. I threw a fit and demanded the insurance company sent their own adjustor, still came in over 6k, total loss. I threw another fit and demanded they let me take it to a shop of my choosing, not the one the dealership recommended which was a shop I had heard was overpriced, still over 6k, total loss...

Then came the battle with insurance to get the money. I was less than impressed with the insurer and my friend, a lawyer, even suggested I take them to court. Ultimately I jumped through their hoops though, figuring the fastest way out is through.

Finding a dealership that could bring one in to test drive was the next challenge. After being turned down by every other dealership in the Omaha metro area Performance Ford came through with a recent trade in with 2k miles. I didn't buy that one though, I decided to order a brand new one being suspicious of the other having been traded in so soon. Tuxedo black, navigation, and all season tires which I regretted when I found out which all season tire Ford had chosen and I shelled out another $700 for winter tired on steelies...

More to come

Sorry about your lacklustre reception. I believe there are only 2 active admins on this forum so they may have missed you. Welcome!

Indeed, there are only two of us, if you exclude our behind-the-scenes forum overlord, WRC-Fan---Bryan and myself. And I have been swallowed up this weekend by the NFL Playoffs, so guilty as charged of having missed this thread.

Welcome to the forum! Getting a hold of a FiST to even look at can be a challenge here in the States; they're a particularly niche car. Glad you were able to get one. Question for you, you don't like the Pilot AS3 all-seasons? As far as 3-season tires go, I've only heard good things about them. Also, good color choice--I also have Tuxedo Black. :)

Yeah, this is a smaller group than most others. Some knowledgeable folks on here, though. If you're thinking about mods, this is a good forum to learn about them.
