So I got my new plates fresh from the DMV on Friday and the last three numbers are 666. While I don't have a problem with the number, I do realize that there are a number of people that may. I am not trying to start any type of weird religious debate here, I was just curious if anyone thinks that I should request a new set of plates... My real fear is that someone that is unreasonably offended by the number would do something stupid to my car in a lot or while driving down the road. Maybe I am just reading too much into it.

I've seen it before. Never had it, nor do I know of anyone personally who can attest to having problems or not because of it. Unless those are the only things on the plate, though, I think you're okay. Unless it's something like DIE 666, of course.

I would think that given your other characters are likely random.... most people would have the sense to know that you got a randomly generated plate, and won't pay it much attention.... Other than to think you are unlucky or forsaken.. lol

I think anyone that would make a big deal out of it, is someone you'd probably be better off avoiding anyway?

That said, I think that particular numerical combination, is one that they should definitely give the customer/owner the right to decide if they are ok with it or not, as I am sure it could most certainly offend some people. Or as mentioned above... some combo's just shouldn't happen.

I don't think it would bug me.

I did get a triple letter plate, but not really one that could be interpreted to mean anything.

Most people probably wouldn't even notice it. I don't really go around checking out plate numbers real often myself. If I saw it on the road and the other numbers/letters were completely random, I'd just laugh and think they the owner got the unluck of the draw. But there are some weird people out there that might somehow think you chose it on purpose. If it was mine I'd probably see about getting it changed and not take the chance.

Try to exchange them "on religious grounds" and see if it works.
It only takes one superstitious a-hole to damage your car.
I had a couple neighbors that had those stupid Darwin fish pried off their cars with a screwdriver a few years ago.
