How has everyone found the space for the left foot when utilising the footrest? I'm wondering if it's a little different in the LHD vehicles compared to my RHD.
I find the space between the clutch pedal and what I would describe as the console/kick panel is very limited. Initially the sole of my work shoe was catching on the pedal, and I thought this may be due to the width of the sole on this type of shoe, however driving tonight wearing my Vibram Five Fingers, I found my foot still rubs/catches the side of the clutch pedal when moving it to the rest (and VFFs are only marginally wider than bare feet). I haven't really had a good look, but I dont think the FiST has an adjustable pedal box, does it?
As it is currently, I have to contort or twist my left foot to manoeuvre it onto the rest. Then if I try to lift it straight off, it hits the back of the clutch pedal. I'm finding myself just resting my foot on the floor instead which is a less comfortable option.

Has anyone else come up against this, and if so, how do you deal? Do I just have some freakishly wide size 10s? (actually, my feet are average width...)

That sounds different than the LHD cars. Our pedal area is pretty snug, but we do have a dead pedal to the far left. It bothers some people because ours is covered with carpet instead of having an actual pedal. My feet fit without getting hung up behind the pedals though.

Our RHD footrest sounds the same. Just a carpet covered spot for the foot.
Having a closer look tonight I can see that the clutch pedal is offset from the arm to accommodate the steering column which passes between the clutch and brake pedals. Still, you can see in the pic there is bugger all room for anyone wearing man-sized shoes.

Further evidence that the right side of the road IS the right side of the road! ;)

Seriously, that doesn't look terribly useful or even safe. (But at least it's not the brake or accelerator pedal.) We in NA have much more room for our left foot to wander about in as it searches for the dead pedal area. The dead pedal spot is a bit narrow, though, even though there's nothing nearby. I'd like it about 1.5-2 cm wider.

Are those aftermarket pedals? They don't look like the pedals on my car.

I have the same problem regards lack of room for your left foot. It was the first thing I noticed when I test drove the ST. I wear Dunlop volleys (size 11) when I drive, their very narrow and clear the clutch pedal-just.
