Has anyone seen a video or read anything about Randy Pobst doing a drive or review in the FiST? There's a LOT out there on the Focus ST, and he's a big fan.

I know that Tanner Foust is practically the Ford spokesman, and I think he's great (and I know it's his car as our forum "mascot"!). It's just that I've been watching Randy for years. There's nobody like him -- he's smart, funny, and an amazing driver. I liked the Focus ST video with Randy and Carlos Lago (also a good guy, and I prefer his reviews on almost anything automotive). Those are my two favorite MT guys.

As a funny aside, the very first time I saw Randy was at a time trial day at Streets of Willow. It was officially a Porsche Owners Club meet, but they let us non-Porsche guys run in the "Exhibition class". I was having fun beating wholesale Porsche butt when a SUPER FAST guy blew past me in an Audi A8. This was 1997 or so, and that wasn't a fast car. I later learned it was Randy. It's said that he could drive a table fast. :)

Randy and I have run a couple of the same Chump car races (not on the same team) and I have bumped into him numerous times at AMP here in N Atlanta (where he lives close by). When I see him next, I'll ask what he thinks.

At one of the first Portland International Raceway driving events I attended, Randy was the "guest celebrity" for the weekend. It was in late 2004 and I think he had been driving for the Audi-sponsored RS-6 team in the old Speed World Challenge GT series. He spoke at the Audi Club dinner and did ride-alongs/demo drives that weekend. I recall two mind blowing instances that really wowed everyone watching. The first involved Randy driving a friend's S4 Avant through the chicane at a blistering speed during a morning instructor's session. My friend, a very good, experienced driver, was clearly shaken afterwords (seriously almost babbling, hah) and all of us watching from the stands were in awe. Later in the day, Randy took one of the organizers (not a particularly good driver) out for a few laps in the guy's FWD TT. OMG. Randy drove the stink out of that thing. The highlight was his drive through "turn 12" (which is the long right sweeper connecting a short left/right/very short straight sequence coming out of the back straight into the main straight). Randy came screaming around that thing. The street tires were just wailing, the car was drifting, and I think the owner probably @#$% himself. You could hear the sustained tire wailing all over the paddock and because of where it was located, we could also see the little green TT flying around the turn. Epic for a track day. And: Randy was just the nicest guy to everyone he spoke to.

It's stunningly funny to read youtube armchair quarterbacks bag on Randy's driving. If you know what to look for, you don't need a stopwatch to know he drives everything like stink and zero effs are given.

Is there one? That's why I started this thread. I only know about his Focus ST review (lots of links online). I have no clue who would bag on Randy -- that's crazy. He's unnaturally comfortable behind the wheel and has lap records, too. I have seen his driving first-hand and I'm a big fan of his work. :)

Yea, watching him in all those world speed challenge cars over the years, having him as a driver was basically cheating... Lots of really bad ass drives in that series though, I miss it... Ron Fellows was bad ass too in the caddy's ( even though I disliked the caddy team ).

I am mad at myself for missing all the RS6 audi races. I came into WSC right as the Audi exited. I started watching it because I saw an article on the rs6 race car and thought "twin turbo v8, awd, 6speed, what's not to love". Sucks the benz e55 and M5 didn't get in on that.

Also sucks they black balled the srt4 in the touring car class. Not its fault its blindingly faster than all the other fwd cars on the track, lol.

Cool Thanks
It was nice to see his lap at Laguna Seca, but I still want to see his runs at WSIR: Big Willow/SoW/HTM. I have seen so many of his other runs there, that this would be a nice reference.

Also, the intro was just a transcript from the latest C&D Best Drivers Car story and sounded like Carlos Lago (very good and "surprise ending"!). I want to hear more of his famous driving commentary.
