Reversing camera?

43614 Views 64 Replies 30 Participants Last post by  SirGreg76
It's getting close to delivery time now, and already time to start thinking about upgrades. While the Mountune stuff is appealing (and might happen eventually) my ST is probably not going to spend tons of time on the track.

I was looking into adding a reversing camera - does anyone have any experience or opinions of the NavTV module, which apparently would allow the stock MyFord Touch screen to display a camera...

Thoughts? $500 seems like a lot.

The OEM route may not be an option. I work for a Ford dealer and I spoke to my Favorite mechanic Who knows about the electronic systems. He has emailed his contact at Ford to see if it is possible to add the OEM camera from the titanium Fiesta. As soon as I get a reply, I will post it. BTW, sorry about the double post. I am now using taptalk. Much easier...

Good I've been wondering for a while if this is possible on the FiST. The only thing I could see being an issue is if Ford used a different wiring harness from the trunk area back to the nav screen to save some money on conductors.
Actually there is more to it than just cables. The camera actually communicates with the computer module that controls the MyFord touch system so the firmware may not support it on this model. More as soon as I hear from Ford.

I've seen this from a company that can unlock the camera functions on non-equiped camera vehicles, however they don't list the Fiesta as one of the vehicles. https://www.coastaletech.com/focuslockpick.htm
I sent them an email seeing if they have a product that will work on FiST

Here's there response for a FiST:

The module that works for your vehicle is the MyTouch 2 LockPick. This module will unlock unlock your factory A/V inputs in motion and allow you to input navigation addresses while in motion. The MyTouch LockPick will allow you to add up to 3 additional cameras (rear, front, and a secondary rear as well - for hooking up your fifth wheel, for viewing behind a trailer and more!) that have the ability to be viewed automatically as well as access all of these cameras on demand while the vehicle in any gear.

Thinking about ordering this lock pick kit. Watching the videos looks easy to setup.

Just wondering if I can get the factory camera installed without anymore wiring to the dash?

I did some research online about the Lockpick product from http://www.coastaletech.com/mytouch2.htm and their BBB rating is C- as I think about 10 people had complaints about them that were unresolved and they must sell some of their products on Amazon.com and the reviews from people were very mixed. Sounds like at first some of the people everything was fine but then after a while the unit would start glitching out.

Very much hoping there is a way to get the factory camera to work. Would rather spend my money on the Mountune MP215 tune kit.
It is do able with the Coastal Electrical Lock pick kit at about $350. I'm just a bit gun shy because their online review isn't the greatest and they won't help out with aftermarket camera. I'm pretty sure you could get the Ford camera to work with it.

Forgot to add would have to run a cable from the trunk to the nav screen for the camera.

I found some on Aliexpress for $10-$20. Think the Ford camera is about $125

I was looking at two very similar models of backup camera that fit into the spot where a light bulb usually sits above the licence plate. This install location is the same as the Fiesta Titanium backup camera.

On the Fiesta the voice button activates the camera if you hold it down for 5 seconds. From what the guy from Coastal told me the factory camera with the factory wiring harness will not work on the FiST and the Lockpick. I think this is because on the FiST the wiring harness from the trunk back to the nav area contains no wires for a backup camera. Which is why to make this work one will have to run a cable from the back up camera to the nav area for integration in the Lockpick.
Did you end up going with one of these? I've been thinking about getting one.
No, I spent my money on Mountune MP215. Maybe next year probably would go with the Coastaletech mytouch lockpick 2 and buy a backup camera from Aliexpress that goes into the stock light bulb area above the license plate. $350 for lockpick kit plus about $20 for camera.

I think the best option and cheapest is to go with the Coastal Elec Tech My Ford Lockpick 2 or Navtool with one of the above cameras that goes into the default location. Then all you need is an rca cable from trunk area to display screen.
