I have one (Thule). It works really well. The rubber on the feet will leave marks, but they're only superficial and can be polished out, and obviously your gas mileage will take a hit. First time setup takes awhile putting it all together, but afterwards installation and removal can be done with two people in about 5 minutes.
Take a look at used sites like GearTrade for deals on attachments. I picked up my Thule bike attachment (the kind where you can leave the wheels on) for $70 shipped, and it was brand new (had been bought and returned to BackCountry.com).
