The ST in the EU is rated for 180, ours is rated for 197. They are getting the same rating as us. Though the rest of the goodies would be nice. :)

My understanding from reading articles comparing the EU FiST and NA FiST is that in essence the two engines are the same however in Europe they have to post what hp the car can output forever 180hp and the 197hp is with over boost for something like 17 seconds. To me this ST200 seems like a bump up in permanent power with the addition of a tune similar to MP215 to get over boost of 215hp for a limited time.

Here's what I read it from. And it looks like you're right, 212 HP on overboost, with 230ish ft lbs.

Not too sure either if they got their information correct, some of the people in the comment section call them out on the misinformation. Like somebody said in the comments section the NA FiST has the same 182ps of horsepower but with overboost brings it to 197ps. Here in NA it is legal to rate hp with the overboost portion where as in EU it isn't. I remember when the FiST first launched in NA the torque figure was 214ft-lbs but then a short time later was changed to 202ft-lbs, not too sure why this changed. I have the MP215 tune and I'm pretty sure mountunes numbers are based on overboost. Wouldn't be surprised if mountune is secretly supplying Ford with their tune for the ST200 as the output numbers actually match MP215.

I checked Mountune's UK web site and no mention of any factory contributions, but you're probably right. Not to mention the sport springs included on the ST 200. The smaller final drive plus the quicker steering rack will probably pop up as a branded part in aboot 6 months... :D

I just bloody hope that there will be 2017s available in North America! Seems like we will be losing the Fiesta over here! No Fiesta, no ST... :(

I too hope they continue on with Fiesta here in NA.
This article seems to hint at a 2017 Fiesta for NA

I've read articles that talk about Ford moving their small car plants from Mexico to Taiwan and how the next generation Fiesta may be called something else, think their trying to better compete with Honda Fit for back leg room space.

I actually prefer if it were called something else. The ST is hidden under the Fiesta moniker but if you have driven the base Fiesta you know that the two cars are quite different. I totally stumbled upon this car and could have easy missed out on it. If it had a name to stand out on it's own I think that it would be more noticeable for what it is. But people see it and think it's just a Fiesta with some extra amenities, add-ons or options. The other stuff seems like typical dealer fluff.

Driving the base Fiesta after having owned one for a little while did tip me off to it's potential and what really brought it to my attention that maybe there was something to the ST...but that was only because I was already considering a compact hatch, the Mazda 3 I test drove felt too "cheap", cool salesman at the Ford dealership where my mom got her F150, and because I think the Honda/Nissan alternatives are ugly...err, I mean um not my style, lol. That was all before I decided to even take an ST for that first test drive!

Yes, I totally stumbled on this car...but I'm oh so glad that I did!

I think that the US will get its wish, we will likely get the Ford HPV er Ecosport as a replacement for the Fiesta, with no manual or ST, but a flat load floor, 86 cup holders, AWD(not the fun version), wifi hotspot, 1.0 EB only with CVT, it'll park and drive itself!

Correct. The EU spec rear (and front) bumpers need to meet an impact speed requirement less than that of the more stringent US standards. A rear swap is possible if you have the right parts list - bonus of the EU rear is functional rear fog lights in place of the unlit reflectors the US cars have in the rear bumper.
