New to Ford Sync and this forum. I couldn't find this issue while conducting a search.

I'm using a Lexar 633 microSD in a USB adaptor, I have a bunch of music on it and it was working just fine. I recently installed a few new albums to the device, plug it into SYNC and it doesn't see the albums or artists. I put the USB stick back into the computer and the files are there and working properly.

I feel like it's something I'm doing wrong and just am not computer smart enough to know what it is.

Thank you for all your help.

Sync 3 (2016) or My Ford Touch (14-15)?

On my Sync 3 system it has had indexing problems with my iPods before when adding or taking off songs. I got past it by doing a master reset on the system through the menus. I was talking with the IVT people about all my issues with Sync 3 so far so hopefully they are working on updates to fix those issues.

Apparently they are releasing a big update sometime this year to include Apple Carplay and Android Auto, so I doubt they will release an update to fix minor issues before then. Meanwhile I still haven't been able to play my music through my iPods in the same way I would on my old head unit in my other car which played great with all the Apple devices I plugged into it. I am by no means an Apple lover, but the iPod is one of the most supported and easiest to use and sync mp3 players around, but the one thing I want them to work with they won't...

I need to try out the USB stick method and see if it works any better.

Sil3nt611, I have a 2015 ST, so, I guess it's the My Ford Touch? It's in the shop at the moment for warranty work, so I cannot go out there and know for sure.

It's odd, the files I put on the USB stick a while ago seem to play just fine, anything I've added to it since (through Microsoft Media Player) doesn't work, though Media Player is how I put the initial albums on the USB stick in the past.

I thought about updates but every time I try to register the SYNC/My Touch on Fords website, it comes back with a system error and I cannot register. [shrug]

Thanks again for you help.

Yes, if you have a 2015 it's going to be My Ford Touch. Still seems to be an indexing issue. Try the master reset. You'll have to reset some settings unfortunately, but that's how I fixed mine.

Ok, I've updated the My Ford Touch to the latest version, did the master reset and I still cannot get the albums to play. If I'm browsing the USB thumb drive, it doesn't even show the albums. Is there a setting these songs/albums need to be on in order from SYNC to read them?

Hi IVMnstr,

The formats that SYNC recognizes on a flash drive are MP3, WMA and WAV. As far as I know SYNC understands all sample rates. I'd start there; ensure the files are in the proper formats.

I hope this helps

I made sure that the songs and albums put on the thumb drive were in MP3 format. I can see the songs and albums on my computer when looking at the thumb drive contents, however, they do not appear on the SYNC My Ford Touch. Master Reset didn't do anything, indexing takes a little while but seems to complete and I don't interrupt it while it's doing it's thing. I'm at a loss and quite frustrated with the whole car (as it'll be going into the shop for the 4th time soon and I've only had it since mid December 2015).

Thanks for listening.

You're welcome, IVMnstr. Please send a PM with your VIN and name. I'll look in to this for you.
