Since I drive around with my AP always on, the numbers are actually quite different. I've done some before and after datalogging and will do more today. The weather conditions are the same. Conservatively it's consistently several degrees cooler. It takes a lot to bring it meaningfully higher than ambient -- even then it cools right off.
Your point remains valid -- you won't feel it until the heat gets to a point where it affects power. That takes a lot on this little car!
It could my imagination but seeing the cooler intake temps makes me feel like it used to feel when driving in the cooler evenings.
