It's last-minute, I know, but this Saturday there's a cool (and rare!) evening track session! They provide great lighting, so nothing to worry about there. It's been especially hot, so this will help quite a bit...

(Oh yeah, this is MazFest night)

I'm signed up, and you can too, here:

It's a hair more expensive than a regular day session ($120 vs. $130) before any applicable discounts.

Anyhow, it's been a struggle to find the time to get my car prepped, buy a trailer, etc. I'm pretty much there now and looking forward to a fun track day.

This time around, my little FiST is gutted and fitted with a single Sparco race seat. It's the track debut of my new coilover suspension and first outing since the car's big diet. I'm excited about it and hope to see some of you there too!

I'll be out there with my shop (RaceWerkz Engineering.) Don't think I'm bringing the Fiesta though.
It was nice to see you there -- how did the rest of your evening go?

I also briefly ran into Dan from FSWERKS in his Focus (2002?). He reported a great set of runs and found the track faster than his normal times...but that wasn't to be for me. I spent the first couple sessions tuning the suspension. By the end of the night, the car felt really good. Oddly, neither Harry's Lap Timer or "TraqMate" could get a good GPS fix, and only recorded about 7 laps total. It's weird, really -- I've never had so much trouble. Unless this happens again, I'll chalk it up to weird conditions.

Speaking of which, I enjoyed the cooler weather that the night runs brought, but didn't drive very well. The fastest recorded time was actually slower than my CW runs at SoW! One big difference is that I ran with a 91 octane map and older 91 gas. I just could not get the fuel pump relay to stay on long enough to dump it. Also, anyone ever try to siphon fuel on this car? Holy crap, it's tough. Maybe I'll start a thread on that. My fancy 100 octane Rally Race map from Mountune will have to wait for another day...
