It seems the oil life monitoring system in my car is failing to alert me to change the oil. Anyone else have this problem? Was the cause found and the issue resolved?

After over 10000 miles on the odometer the system never alerted me to change my oil. My local dealership suggested that it may not have been reset/initialized properly from the factory and it wasn't a concern. They said there was no way they could check the status of this system. They changed the oil and performed the reset procedure, and said to wait to see if it happens again.

Now I am over 20000 and still no alert. I contacted the dealership again and they said it's hard to say why it might not be working, the best they could offer is to check for error codes and change the oil again.

Not satisfied with this answer, I contacted another dealership who said they could investigate and try to get to the bottom of the issue, but this dealership said they might need the car for multiple days and they do not offer loaners.

I read through my manuals again and remembered I could run a vehicle health report. I ran the report and it said i have 0% oil life remaining. I can't believe my dealership didn't suggest I run this report..

Anyone else have this issue with the lack of alerting? I am trying to follow the recommendations of the owners manual, and this has resulted in me exceeding the recommended oil change interval by who knows how many miles. Like most ST owners, I drive it pretty hard. It is only 20000 miles, but I still don't like the idea of running on dirty oil for potentially thousands of miles, twice, is there any permanent damage i should be concerned about?

Yup it has never been working correctly I gave up on it and change oil as needed like the old days by driving conditions or time or milage however you choose.

i drive mine hard. My report continuously says 0% now. But I just keep track of my miles. I'm going off of 3000 mile intervals, even though it may just be a waste and too early. There was one time that the VHR didnt have oil life listed at all. Also, the reset procedure didnt ever work for me. Why not just go off of miles? I don't think my VHR ever adjusted the oil life based on my driving.

I wonder if anyone has had enough miles since having that TSB done to be able to tell if it actually fixed the problem? I was talking to several Ford engineers last April while trying to fix the problem and nothing they tried helped. I finally gave up with the effort, as it was't worth time expenditure to follow through.
