start in Normal then press and hold the button for five second and the screen will display ECS OFF. don't start in Sport mode.
Understanding ESC
I just read the part in the owner's manual about the ESC with sport mode and off but apparently I'm missing something. Hitting the button and getting "Sport Mode" is no problem but when I hit the button and hold for 5 seconds all it does is shut the light in the dash back off returning it, I assume, to normal mode. Do you have to wait a certain amount of time while you are in Sport Mode before switching ESC completely off?

Thanks eRic. I just figured it was a progessive thing. Makes sense now without even trying it.
the long hold will also appear on your touchscreen. A "bar" will grow on the screen until the ESC is fully off.
