Here's a thread to discuss VIR events, track lines, results, etc.

I'll start off by reporting on my VIR event with NASA on March 21-22, 2015.

It was a fantastic weekend, breezy and cool. There were minimal issues on track which meant we got our full allotment of track time.

My FiST is mostly stock, but I did fit up some brake ducts to keep the Hawk DTC-60 front pads cooler. I have single-adjustable Koni shocks in the rear, and a drop-in K&N filter. That's it!

My lap times (full course) were 2:25's with a best time of 2:24.1 according to the GPS (Harry's Lap Timer on Android). I was getting up to 123mph on the back straight, 118 or so on the front straight.

My favorite part of the track is the Climbing Esses. I'd enter them at 100mph+ full-throttle and never lifting until the turn-in for South Bend. As my tires got greasy later in the session, or if I had an instructor in the car with me, I'd get a little late by the time I got to the top.

Regardless, it was really dramatic how I could make up the distance between me and another car in that short section. Or put distance between me and someone else. Really fun.

Yes, the climbing esses are the best. I at least got a full throttle run at it that weekend. I'm really looking forward to the Hyper-fest activities and being on track May 2nd/3rd. It's too bad you won't be there, CrookedRacer. I hope I'm not the only Fiesta on track!

Well, I ended up being the only Fiesta on track! My wife and I saw one other red FiST at the event but not on course.

I was in the HPDE 1 group. My instructor...ugggh. That is another story and not worth getting into.

Ambient temp on Saturday was about 70f and partly cloudy. Sunday was warmer and mostly sunny around 80f.

The track felt great and so did the car. I was on OEM tires with Hawk DTC-60 pads on the front and OEM pads on the rear. Seems around 2m 28 sec was my fastest lap for the weekend, not bad for the first time on a race track! :)

The climbing esses and south bend combined were my favorite part of the track. I was also flat out going up the esses in 4th gear. I could make up a lot of time on this section. There was only one other person in my group that seemed to understand how to take the South Bend at proper speed.

My instructor kept telling me to take turn 4 a different way so I was screwed up on that corner all weekend...sigh.

Here are a few shots from the weekend:

And some youtube videos:

This is 2nd day 4th session, was fun and I had lots of clear track.

I was black flagged during this session but I had a nice run with a Corvette and an EVO.
