The average recommended distance between rotations seems to be every 15000 Km (10000 Miles).
The local Tyre joint recommends a shorter period - Which no doubt helps their bottom line.
With our performance FWD cars, I imagine front tyre wear will be higher than a standard vehicle.
What do YOU do?

Discount Tire will rotate your tires for free for as long as you have them. I'm quite sure it doesn't help their bottom line. Front wheel drive cars love to eat front tires faster than the rear, so I'd definitely recommend rotating them at least with every oil change if you want the most even wear.

If you drive aggressively enough to wear the tires extra fast, then the rotation interval mileage should be reduced from standard requirements. If you let the wear get too lopsided, then when you do change the tires position on the car, the handling might be poor.

When I was a young whipper-snapper, I once let the tires on a MG Midget get half-way worn down before I decided to rotate the tires. From then on, spinning in a half-circle when trying to speed around a corner was a common occurrence. It was some exciting driving, but max cornering speeds were drastically reduced. :)

I rotate the summer tires with winter ones :p

I have never rotated tires in the traditional sense because I am always changing for seasons. When I take the wheels off for any reason, it is doubtful they always go back in the same position. Tire wear has been fairly consistent.

Mine are rotated free every oil change.
I do that every 5K miles.

Me too. It has served me well for several sets of tires on several cars. I also swap on race tires/wheels for autox and snow tires for winter. I have the rims numbered on all the sets and I write down which corner they came off so I can keep my rotations straight and rotate them at the 5k interval.
