When you pull the old label off the body, use nylon string or dental floss. Next, I use a pre-paint VOC cleaner available from Eastwood. It works faster than any other solvent (goo off, etc) at removing all traces of old adhesive, but not cured paint. I lightly press on the badge on one corner and step back to verify straightness. If you only press one corner, you can slightly rotate the badge. The front badge needs to removed with tools. Easist way is to remove the front bumper. I'm waiting for my Levels intercooler before I replace my front badge. Hopefully this weekend.
While one may not be in technical violation of the LETTER(s) of the LAW d one is certainly breaking the SpiriT... Those of us who have actually seen them know that there is still a red highlight, and those are what are unavailable elsewhere. ....FWIW or as clarification--One need not remove the front bumper or do anything else of similar level of hassle to remove the front ST badge. Removing it just like one does the rear badge works splendidly--a length of dental floss, some gentle sawing back-and-forth, then an adhesive remover like those suggested, and--voilà!--one is ready to place the new badge.
I, too, got my black badges via STOA. I think it may be illegal to put black badges on the car unless one has been there.![]()
