hey guys,

so, I'm finally having my first issue with my FiST.

1) this is the common one that it seems. Only today, first time, my hvac blower wasn't operating properly. The air seemed like it was blowing below the slowest setting. The temperature seemed about correct. This may be related to the blower freezing up or something. Although, I think I have the foam strips that is part of the fix for that...

2) This is the 3rd time it has happened. It seems to only happen when I get off work and it has been below 0 degrees F, if not below -10 degrees. When I press the lock/unlock button on the driver's side door handle, all but the driver door unlocks. Seemed very odd. Pressing the button again locks everything (no noise from driver's door). Pressing it again unlocks all but driver's door. Very odd.

so I guess Ill go visit my dealer on Monday and ask them to take a look. They probably wont be able to replicate the issues without keeping the girl overnight.

anyways, anyone else having similar issues or have any insight?

1. Sounds exactly like the tsb for the hvac fan. I don't think the foam strips were part of the tsb. I think they were actually an intermediary fix on vehicles within a certain production run. If I recall correctly, the tsb fix included a different vent system under the front cowl. There's a thread out there on it. Might want to ask the dealer about it.

2. I have had weird locking and unlocking since day 1. I think it may have to do with the sequence of starting my car (ie. start the car get out or start the car and get out to open the trunk) If you can only replicate it below a certain temperature, then I think you have something different.

1) when I had picked up my FiST from the dealer back in march, I asked them about just taking care of it, but they were not as willing. Lol. So we'll see. The fan was working fine on the drive home tonight and it was colder... So I don't know...

2) I assume the temp has something to do with it. It has only happened when she has been sitting outside locked. I am testing whether it will happen with her in the garage. So this will be one of the first times she is locked while inside the garage. Also, it's only gotten below 0 within the past 2 weeks.

I am betting the temp has something to do with issue #2. I remember a few times in extreme cold with my 2011 Fiesta that the door lock buttons acted up when the car was parked outside. Today is the first exposure to single digit temps for my ST, so I will see how it does. My car sits in the garage at night, but is outside during work.

Mine just started doing number 2 as it has been about - 10 to - 15c here overnight. Did it after work as well. All doors unlock except the drivers. Drivers opens no problem with the inside handle.

the only thing i didn't try was pulling out the key... But who wants to do that when it's cold?
I have an appointment scheduled for the 12th. The blower seems to be working now...

I went out again last night and the same thing. This morning when I left for work I pressed the passenger side door button to put my bag in and the drivers side unlocked from the outside. Not sure if it would of I went straight to the drivers side as usual so i'll try that after work as it's still freezing out..

I know you probably understand this but throwing it out there anyway.....
if you have the HVAC set on "auto" the blower won't speed up until the engine temp is completely warm.

That way it does not blow cold air in the beginning. As the engine warms up the blower speeds up...

I also have mine set to "AUTO" so it doesn't blow cold air in my face or on my feet in winter. It works great.

When I put mine on Auto in the cold, it blows out of the defroster. That's great to keep the windshield clear, but useless to warm the car. All that hot air turns cold when passing over the windshield, and then it blows the cold air in my face...

I did not know that, but I have had a couple of instances where it still blows fulls speed through the defroster when on auto even though the engine is still cold. When I had the described issue, it was when the engine was warm after driving on the highway. This brings up another question, after the engine is warm and the hvac is set on Hi, Auto, interior of vehicle still roughly same temp as outside, the fan should go on full blast, right? For whatever reason, last night the fan wouldn't. It just over half speed. I had to just turn it all the way up.

My car refused to lock via the door buttons today (both driver and passenger). Still locked via the remote. Weird...
I have experienced this too, make sure the rear hatch is closed properly. I've seen snow build up cause it not to close all the way and if any door is open just a bit the door buttons won't allow you to lock the car

Gotta be sure all the other ventilation buttons are off...

It turns out it was the rear, driver side door not closing properly. The door lock mechanism was sticking a bit. The dealer put a bit of grease on it and seems to work fine now. Hopefully its good to go for the next cold snap.

I have been having the door unlocking issue, too. I have no issue when opening it from the inside, via access through another door, but when pressing the unlock with the handle button and/or fob button I cannot open my driver-side door. This only happens when it has been in the single digits, or colder overnight and I want to gain access in the mornings. I have been hesitant with taking it to the dealer, as I know I cannot replicate it unless it is bitter cold and has been sitting outside all night. Also, I do not know what the problem is since the car opens like normal from the inside, but refuses from the outside.

Anyone know what the problem is, or how to explain it to the dealer to get it fixed? I would rather not give them the car overnight, just to have them tell me they can't replicate it.
